It was not so long ago, that the trade in conflict-free diamonds was a serious concern. Tragically a larger number of the world's most productive diamond regions are not located in politically stable, well-administered nations. The fact that precious stones are so small yet carry such a high value makes them relatively easy to smuggle across borders. Until relatively recently, these beautiful things were often used to finance arms deals and support corrupt and undemocratic governments.
Sadly, some of the precious gems used to fuel bloody and terrible conflicts in the most troubled places on the globe ended up in Europe, and without a doubt, some of them ended up in diamond wedding rings that were bought and given with only love in mind. Something had to be done.
We are confident that none of the stones in our collection came from conflict areas. It is certified to have been mined in a specific location and traded to the UK through legal and ethical channels.
A new EU law ends the trade in conflict diamonds. All stones coming into the region must now be certified as coming from certain approved sites that meet certain ethical standards. This is wonderful news for the places that have suffered from the dirty deals done with conflict gems and good news for you too- you can now buy conflict-free engagement rings, wedding, and eternity rings without worrying about where those gorgeous diamonds came from.
